Chinatown, Vancouver BC

One Of The Earliest Communities in British Columbia

If you’d like to experience a completely different side of Vancouver, explore Chinatown. Located near downtown Vancouver – within easy reach of the Auberge Hotel – it is one of the earliest communities in British Columbia and home to some of the city’s most famous sceneries and historical buildings.

Vancouver’s Chinatown also tops the list as being one of North America’s cleanest modern-day Chinatowns. Sandwiched between historic Chinese storefronts and landmarks, are trendy independent boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, and hip residential lofts.

It is a place where you can sample world-renowned Chinese delicacies. For an authentic Chinatown experience, enjoy afternoon dim sum at Floata Seafood restaurant, grab a steam bun at New Town Bakery, or have dinner at Bao Bei.

Visit the Chinese Cultural Centre Museum to learn about the history of Chinese Canadians and appreciate both traditional and contemporary Chinese arts. Or take a stroll through the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden, a beautiful paradise that offers interesting perspectives on culture, architecture and horticulture from the Ming Dynasty.

Chinatown offers other intriguing attractions too – like at the world’s narrowest building, which is only 6 feet wide! This phenomenal structure has been recognized by Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and is located at 8 West Pender Street. Or pay homage to a legendary musician and visit the shrine of Jimi Hendrix, which is located at the corner of Main and Union Street, the former location of his grandmother’s restaurant where he lived as a child.
